In April I was on a visit to a friend in Germany. He studies at the University of Regensburg which is not far from Munich. One day we decided to make a trip to Munich so we can visit the Allianz Arena and the sights of the town. We finished our sight-seeing at about eleven o'clock so we made the decision to go at the airport to observe for couple of hours the arriving and departing planes. We took the U-Bahn and after 45 minutes we reached the airport. It was hard to navigate, because it's very big, but finally we found the guest-terrace in Terminal 2. There is a 2-euro fee, but it's nothing to worry about, if you want to stay half a day. The view was impressing, as the airplanes were taking-off and landing every 90 seconds. Terminal 2 is planned only for Lufthansa-planes and those of its partners. I immediately took my camera out and start photographing.
By the regular B737s, A320s and CRJ100s/200s, there were also A330s and A340s as the crown of the day was an A340-600, which took off seconds before sunset on its route to San Francisco. The four-engine monster roared down runway 08R and disappeared in the clouds seconds after that. I took a hall lot of pictures as MUC was the biggest airport I have ever been at. After five hours spent on the cold wind, we finally decided to leave and after another hour and a half we were home in Regensburg. I can truly say that this was my most interesting day from long time ago.
