Aviation History: Boeing and AirbusBoeing Company the world's largest manufacturer of commercial airplanes. Boeing controls more than half of the global market for jet airliners and is the leading supplier of military jets and helicopters, missile systems, and aerospace technology. The company also is one of the leading exporters in the United States. Its headquarters is in Chicago, Illinois. In the early 1950s Boeing began developing a commercial jet to compete with the popular propeller-driven planes of the Douglas Aircraft Company. Launched into service in 1958, the B-707 became the basis for Boeing's hugely successful line of commercial airliners: the 727, the 737, and the 747. In 1961 the company changed its name from the Boeing Airplane Company to The Boeing Company, reflecting its expansion into fields beyond airplane manufacture. For example, Boeing designed and built the first stages of the Saturn rockets used to launch the Apollo ... read more Published on 08 Aug 2006, 15:20 GMT in Aviation History Permalink | Read Comments | Post a comment | Rank this Article Detailed modernization of ''CH-47F Chinook''"CH-47F Chinook" is a project for radical modernization of the middle transport helicopter of the American air forces. The new workings are an act of the company "Rockwell Collins" and represent a renovated fuselage and flight deck for the crew. As it's forbidden spotting near the runway (outside the fence of course), I decided to sit at the café and take my pictures from there. As the seats have a perfect view at the hole runway, taxiways and apron, there is a small chance to find a place while the rush hour, so I went at about eleven thirty, just to be sure I'll find a free seat. As I expected there were not many people at this time and I took a strategic place. As usual there were only an Aeroflot Tu5 (in the new c/s) and two or three B733s of Bulgaria air. After an hour all scheduled flights started arriving and a hall lot of people attacked the last free places at the café. In less than 2 hours man can see 2 Lufthansa-planes, Austrian F70/100, CSA’s B737, British A320, Air France A320, LOT ERJ170, Malev B737, 2 Alitalia MD80s and most of the Bulgaria air B737s and Hemus air BAe146s. For such an airport, it’s very ... read more Published on 17 Jul 2006, 14:08 GMT in Planespotting Permalink | Read Comments | Post a comment | Rank this Article Spotting day at MUCIn April I was on a visit to a friend in Germany. He studies at the University of Regensburg which is not far from Munich. One day we decided to make a trip to Munich so we can visit the Allianz Arena and the sights of the town. We finished our sight-seeing at about eleven o'clock so we made the decision to go at the airport to observe for couple of hours the arriving and departing planes. We took the U-Bahn and after 45 minutes we reached the airport. It was hard to navigate, because it's very big, but finally we found the guest-terrace in Terminal 2. There is a 2-euro fee, but it's nothing to worry about, if you want to stay half a day. The view was impressing, as the airplanes were taking-off and landing every 90 seconds. Terminal 2 is planned only for Lufthansa-planes and those of its partners. I immediately took my camera out and start photographing.By the regular B737s, A320s and CRJ100s/200s, there were also A330s and A340s as the crown of the day was an A340-600, which took off seconds ... read more Published on 17 Jul 2006, 13:55 GMT in Planespotting Permalink | Read Comments | Post a comment | Rank this Article An aviation accident happened in Siberia by the landing on the 9th of July 2006An airplane of the Russian aviation company "Siberia" crashed by the landing at the airport in the city of Irkutsk.
